Thomas Arthur HIPKIN, son of Thomas HIPKIN (1848-1934) and Hannah Maria SMITH (c. 1849-1932), was born on 6 January 1894. He was baptised on 4 February 1894 in Honingham, Norfolk. No service record for Thomas has been found. On his medal index card it shows he was in the Norfolk Regiment, Private 2611 and the Northamptonshire Regiment, Private 43455. On 26.02.1917 he was hospitalised with myalgia in the 31st Ambulance Train, Ward B, entrained at Bray and detrained at Rouen, and released to return to duty on 27.02.1917. He was on the South Lopham absent voters list, “43455, 2nd Bn. Northants.”. He died on 2 March 1972.
